Glass

Glass is a material that is typically transparent, hard, and brittle. It can be made from a variety of materials, including sand, soda ash, and limestone. Glass has a long history with some evidence of it’s use dating back to 2500bc. It is believed to have first been used in Egypt and Mesopotamia.

Glass has a number of important properties. It is an excellent barrier to light, heat, and ultraviolet (UV) radiation which makes it the ideal material for windows. Additionally, it is also highly resistant to breakage and can be recycled.

Glass is made by melting sand, soda ash, and limestone at high temperatures. The molten glass is then formed into various shapes and cooled. The type of glass that is made depends on the purpose for which it will be used.
